Sustainability

A particular concern and attention for us too

Holiday in Ferienhaus Saak with an eye for the environment

Ferienhaus Saak is a good place to live, relax, unwind and slow down, because it is located in a beautiful, natural environment. That is why it is important to us to treat it as sustainably as possible.

The creation of our holiday homes

We developed the floor plans and ideas for the construction of our three holiday homes, the reception, the dog massage workshop room and the private house together with an architect and builder from our Gailtal valley.

  • All the houses were built in brick construction with full thermal insulation.
  • The larch wood for the panelling comes from the Carinthian Nockberge mountains.
  • All windows are triple-glazed – for optimum insulation against heat and cold.
  • We deliberately worked exclusively with regional, Austrian companies.

Saving energy and water

  • Each holiday home has its own modern air heat pump to operate the underfloor heating and heat the water. The green electricity is supplied by the Carinthian electricity provider Kelag.
  • There are 8 solar panels on the roof of the private house that convert sunlight into electricity. This is used for washing and drying the laundry as well as for heating and lighting in the reception area and the dog massage workshop room.
  • Only electrical appliances with high energy efficiency are used in the holiday homes.
  • All the lighting in the holiday homes is fitted with energy-efficient LED lamps.
  • There is a rechargeable torch in the socket next to the entrance door of each holiday home. It provides extra light in the dark when you take your dog for a walk.
  • All showers in the holiday homes are equipped with a water-saving shower head.
  • The two toilets in each holiday home are equipped with a water-saving dual flush.

Waste avoidance & waste separation

Each holiday home is designed to separate plastic, cans, paper, glass and residual waste.

Cleaning

We almost exclusively use cleaning products and materials made from environmentally friendly, natural ingredients that are sustainable and biodegradable – without microplastics.

Also interesting to know

  • The tap water at Ferienhaus Saak is of the best drinking water quality! Our local mountain Dobratsch in the Dobratsch Nature Park has several springs that supply Nötsch, Villach and Bad Bleiberg with the very best drinking water. Its quality is often better than bottled mineral water and is also healthy.
  • On arrival you will receive a roll of dog waste bags made from recycled material.
  • COSMETICS
  • In the holiday home Saak you will find refillable soap dispenders.

Sustainable mobility

Each holiday home has a spacious, lockable bike box with sockets for charging e-bikes.
