The holiday homes in Saak are specially designed for dogs. Together you can start your walks or hikes directly from here and enjoy many other amenities. In addition, the regions of Villach, Nassfeld, Weissensee, Ossiacher See and the proximity to Italy and Slovenia offer the ideal environment for all kinds of activities that you can do together with your dog. And in all four seasons.
A heart and lots and lots of space for dogs
Dogs are not only allowed here, they are very welcome. Enjoy exploring and hiking together with your dog in our region. Afterwards you can make yourself comfortable in your holiday home.
Relaxing hours with your four-legged friend in the house, on the terrace or in the garden are guaranteed. The outdoor barbecue invites you to cosy barbecue evenings. Your dog can move freely in the house and the garden. It is simply important to us that you and your four-legged companion feel at home with us.
Everything for the dog
- Plenty of space to run around in your own garden, more than 200 m², with a 1.75 m high fence
- Professional dog sitting and dog walk service, if you would like to take a trip without your dog (on request)
- Two vets in the village
- Directly from the house: miles of hiking trails through forests and meadows as well as along the Gail river and idyllic streams
- Only a few walking minutes to the Nötsch train station
- Nötsch town center with restaurants, supermarkets and shops also just a few minutes away on foot

- (Dog) shower and dog towels in the bathroom of your house (directly accessible from the garden)
- Wash place for your dog in the garden; Buckets are available for washing paws
- Dog towels at the front door to clean the paws
- On request: “Floor mats” for disabled or older dogs so that they can get up more easily
- If desired: drinking and feeding bowls, dog basket or dog blanket
- Large freezer in your fridge
- Information folder with addresses of veterinarians, tips on walking and hiking trails and other leisure activities where your dog is welcome in your holiday home
- You can find pet shops, a bar shop and a specialized butchery with a large selection of fresh and dried meat for dogs in Villach
Just start hiking
From easy to “challenging” – in the Villach / Gail Valley region you have a huge selection of varied hiking trails. You can hike directly from your holiday home or go by car or train to one of the nearby hiking destinations (e.g. to the Presseggersee or to Villach Warmbad). The Nötsch train station is only a few minutes away on foot.
Other hiking destinations in the area are
- Villach’s local mountain Dobratsch, the border triangle, the Gerlitzen or the Nassfeld
- as well as Monte Lussari and Sella Nevea (each with gondolas) in neighboring Italy.
- Brochures for many excursion destinations in the area are available in every holiday home. You can browse through them at your leisure and make your choice from the many suggestions.
Swimming with your dog
The Nötschcreek is only a few minutes’ walk from your holiday home. There you will find sunny and shady spots as well as small bathing bays where your dog can go into the water. And in less than half an hour you can reach Lago di Predil or the Laghi di Fusine in nearby Italy by car, where your dog can splash around in the water.
There is also a beach on the Ossiacher See, where you and your dog can swim and stop off in a cosy inn. There is nothing standing in the way of a day swimming with your dog by the sea: in less than two hours you are in Grado, Italy, where it is a nice, shaded dog beach with fenced areas for you and your four-legged friend (for a fee).
Good to know
- Depending on the size of the animals, your holiday home can accommodate up to three dogs.
- Basically all breeds and mixed breeds are welcome.
